The Rainmaker committee of SOWL-India organises events, programs and initiatives to link members with potential sources of referrals within and outside India and improve members' rainmaking abilities. This committee will initially focus on three components:

sym Connect members in India and other parts of the world with each other (cross-geography connect)
sym Connect members within India with women entrepreneurs, businesswomen, in house counsel, chartered secretaries and accountants, journalists, etc. within India (cross-discipline connect)
sym Train members to improve their rainmaking skills.

The first event to be organised by the Rainmaker Committee is a workshop on networking skills, in July 2011. An event in partnership with the Young FICCI Ladies Organisation in Kolkotta is tentatively scheduled for August 2011.

The signal event of this committee is expected to be a bi-annual delegation between lawyers in India and other jurisdictions. Initially, the delegations will be Indo-Singaporean (connecting Indian women lawyers with women practitioners and in house counsel in Singapore), and Indo-US (connecting Indian women lawyers with counterparts in New York and DC), the first of which is tentatively scheduled for early-2012.

Law for Women Entrepreneurs
Kolkata, July 16th, 2011

As its inaugural learning event, YFLO Kolkata, in association with the Society of Women Lawyers- India, presented an interactive session, 'Law for women entrepreneurs' on Saturday, 16th July, 2011. The event was designed to help equip members with the necessary basic legal skills they need to establish and grow their businesses. The panelists included widely recognized and experienced women of Law, Ms Priti Suri, Ms Manju Oberoi, Ms Shwetasree Majumdar and key note speaker, Ms. Ramola Bachchan. The event aimed to provide Ladies with an understanding of contract and labor law, due diligence, litigation and intellectual property rights. Members benefited tremendously from this opportunity, overjoyed at the practical take-home value of the event.
